The sash pulley is one of the most critical components of a traditional sash window. It ensures smooth, balanced, and safe operation by allowing the sash cord to move freely over the pulley wheel and connect to the internal counterweight.
Each pulley is mortised into the side of the window frame near the top, with the cord passing over the wheel and attaching to the weight inside the sash box. This counterweight system allows the sash to glide open and closed effortlessly — and stay in place when lifted.
