Self-Adhesive Finseal Carrier – Meeting Rail Draught Seal

Engineered specifically for use at the meeting rail—the point where the top and bottom sashes meet—this advanced sealing system effectively blocks draughts, improves thermal performance, and reduces external noise.

This product features a self-adhesive PVC carrier with a pre-inserted polypropylene brush pile and twin central fin. The fin enhances the sealing capability by forming a continuous barrier against air and water infiltration.

Key Features:

  • Designed for installation at the meeting rail, but also suitable for top, bottom, and side sealing on sash windows.
  • Adhesive-backed carrier fits flush into an 8.0mm wide x 3.5mm deep routed groove.
  • Available with pre-inserted brush pile in 5.5mm or 8.5mm heights.
  • Carrier and brush pile are both white to blend seamlessly with most timber finishes.
  • Quick and simple installation—just peel and stick into the prepared channel.

Technical Details:

  • Carrier Width: 8.0mm
  • Carrier Depth: 3.5mm
  • Brush Pile Material: Siliconised Polypropylene
  • Fin Type: Twin Central Fin for enhanced sealing
  • Fitting Method: Self-adhesive (double-sided tape backing)

Installation Tips:

Ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from debris before application. Use an 8.0mm straight router bit to create a 3.5mm deep groove for a flush fit.

Recommended: Apply a small amount of mitre glue or superglue at the ends of the channel to prevent brush pile movement over time.

This innovative draught seal is a popular choice among both professionals and homeowners for its exceptional performance and ease of installation.

Installation:

Installation Instructions

Clean the Area: Make sure the window sash or frame is clean and dry. Remove any dust, dirt, or old sealant for best results.

Create the Groove: Use an 8mm router bit or chisel to make a groove about 8mm wide and 3.5mm deep where you want to fit the seal (usually along the meeting rail).

Check the Fit: Before peeling the tape, place the seal into the groove to check it fits snugly and sits flush.

Stick it Down: Peel off the backing tape carefully, then press the seal firmly into the groove. Make sure the plastic fin stands up straight—it’s what blocks drafts!

Glue the Ends: To keep the seal from shifting over time, add a tiny bit of superglue or mitre glue at each end of the seal.

Press and Secure: Run your finger along the seal to make sure it’s stuck down evenly and tightly.

Tip: Don’t install when it’s wet or humid. Let the seal set for 24 hours before using the window fully.
