Sash Window Add On Weight - One Pound (0.45kg)
Sash Window Add-On Lead Weights
Perfect for all double-hung sash windows, these add-on lead weights are designed to help you achieve the correct counterbalance when restoring or repairing traditional sash windows.
Why Add-On Weights Matter:
- The total weight of the counterweights should match the full weight of the glazed sash for smooth operation.
- Weights must fit comfortably side-by-side inside the weight pocket and move freely without clashing.
- The length of each counterweight must allow full vertical travel within the sash box.
Our unique round and domed design allows these add-on weights to slot neatly onto existing sash weights, providing smooth and efficient movement inside the box without the jamming issues caused by square weights.
Before ordering: Always check the internal dimensions of your sash box to ensure compatibility with the weight size.
Product Dimensions:
Diameter: 36mm
Height: 50mm
Important Shipping Note:
Sash weights are heavy and bulky. Standard flat rate shipping does not apply. Shipping costs will be calculated at checkout based on your location.

Installation:
How to Rebalance Your Double-Hung Sash Window
Remove the sash window: Carefully lift and tilt the sash out of the frame. You may need to remove the staff and parting beads first.
Access the weights: Inside the frame, open the weight pocket cover (behind the parting bead). Untie the sash cord, pass it back through the pulley, and remove the old weights.
Top sash: Weigh the sash using a bathroom scale. Add 1 pound (approx. 0.46 kg), then divide by 2. This is the weight needed on each side of the top sash.
Bottom sash: Weigh the sash and divide the total weight by 2. This is the weight needed on each side of the bottom sash.
Install new cord and weights: Thread a string with a small weight through the pulley to pull the new sash cord through. Tie on the new weights and knot securely to avoid slipping.
Reinstall the sash: Carefully place the sash back into the frame. You may need assistance. Pin the cord to the sash using galvanised nails and test for smooth operation.
Tip: Make sure both sashes are properly balanced before sealing up the frame. This ensures safe and smooth operation.
