Installation Instructions – Secure Sash Window Stop

Before You Begin:

Ensure your sash window is fully closed and locked. This helps you install the stops in the correct location.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Measure and mark the centre of the vertical stile on the top sash, about 10mm above the meeting rail.

Drill a 10mm pilot hole at the marked location.

Insert the screw plug into the hole and screw it in using a 6mm hex key. You can recess it slightly if preferred.

Repeat the process on the opposite side of the sash.

Using the key, screw the Secure Stop into the plug and mark the position of the strike plate on the top face of the meeting rail on the bottom sash.

Install the strike plate directly below the Secure Stop. Repeat for the second side.

If you want a ventilation gap, install a second Secure Stop approx. 100mm above the first one using the same method. Repeat on both sides.

General Notes:

Lock and Latch recommends checking all fasteners and handles before and after installation to ensure correct performance.

Do not install fasteners while plaster or cement-based flooring is curing, as high humidity can corrode brass finishes.

Some timbers (like Accoya and Oak) are corrosive to brass. Avoid using brass fasteners with these woods. Certain hardwoods may also release resins that affect performance.

Fixing Advice:

The supplied screws are made from soft brass. Always pre-drill pilot holes before hand-screwing into timber.

Never use power drills or mechanical drivers — they can damage the screws or finishes.

Tip: Rub screw shafts with beeswax before installation for smoother fixing.

Always use the supplied brass screws to prevent corrosion from mixing metals.
